Today I decided to wear something simple, so I chose the colors black & white and my top has black & white stripes.  Also, I wanted to add a splash of color, so I added the color red.  It's my first time linking up with Bloggers Do It Better and I'm really excited because the theme is black and white stripes:)

The Color Purple

Banana Republic Top (similar), Old Navy Jeans (here), Just Fab Handbag (here), Nordstrom Flats (here), Fossil Watch (here), Luxe Craving Bracelets (here), DIY Black & Gold Chain Bracelet and made by me.

Yesterday we received 6 or more inches of snow here in Indiana which meant there were some school delays, and several school cancellations including my sons school.  So today, I decided to wear something comfortable, warm, but cute:)  I love this shade of purple, although I've owned this top from Banana Republic for several years now I haven't worn it in awhile.  For today I decided to wear my purple top with a pair of skinny jeans, black flats & handbag, and black and gold accessories:)

Lust

I recently had a manicure and this particular time my manicurist used IBD's color Lust Polish UV Gel on my nails.  I liked this particular color on my nails and I also liked how my nails turned out:)  I'm linking up with Heather from Glitter & Gloss for her Mani Monday.

30 Days of Lists

This month I've been participating in a daily challenge called 30 Days of Lists, so everyday for about 5-10 minutes I complete a page in my journal on a specific list prompt that's emailed to me for that day.

Here are several photos of my 30 Days of Lists pages:

Look What I Got: Olive Skinny Jeans

Old Navy Top (here), Old Navy Jeans (here), Nordstrom Rack Flats (similar), Louis Vuitton Handbag (here), Michael Kors Watch (similar), Bracelets: Luxe Craving (here), and Groop Dealz (here).

I'm a stay a home Mom, however I think I own a decent variety of jeans, but I wanted to add other colors besides your basic dark and light rinse denim to my closet.  So, a couple of weeks ago Old Navy was running a $19 sale on their jeans, although this pair wasn't included in that sale they were only $25.  So, after I tried them on to see if they were long enough and surprisingly they were, I left the store with several new pairs of colored jeans:)

I paired my olive jeans with a yellow gingham shirt, neutral flats, my Louis Vuitton handbag, and gold accessories.

I've Got the Blues

Is spring here yet?  Yeah, it's finally here, even though it doesn't feel like it here in Indiana because it's still very cold and windy outside, but that's ok I know the weather will eventually get warmer soon.  For today, I had several cute outfits picked out and ready to wear, however because the temperature only reached the high 20's I opted not to wear them:(  So, instead I chose this striped blazer I purchased recently on sale at Banana Republic.  I decided I would add a pop of color with a red flower pin on my blazer, also I chose to wear a blue peplum top underneath, flare jeans, my Louis Vuitton handbag (not shown), and gold & red accessories.

The Crafty Ginger

I'm so excited, today to introduce to you Lauren from The Crafty Ginger as my guest blogger.  Here are a few things about her:

Hi Lillies&Silk readers! I'm Lauren from The Crafty Ginger. I'm so excited to be blogging over here today! I'm honored that Carissa was willing to let me do a post! I would love if you came & visited me at my blog! I'm also on Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook & Twitter.

First off, Carissa wanted me to answer a few questions!

-Tell my readers a little about yourself & your blog. I am almost 3 years married, a hairstylist and a zumba instructor. I love fashion & DIY projects! On my blog you will find fashion, DIY projects, recipes & just life stuff!

-What inspired you to start your blog? Honestly, I don't even remember. I started it back in August 2011, but it wasn't much of anything at that point. The design sucked & my posts sucked.

-How do you see your blog in a year from now? I see my blog as a hub to my etsy shop, being a blog known for helping other blogs out & really using it to network & make good friends!

-Do you set goals for yourself & your blog? Surprisingly, no. Since, I am a goal oriented person, I should set goals. At this point I still feel so new to the blogging world that I'm not even sure what kind of goals to set, besides like followers or page views.

-How do you stay current with content & posts? Pinterest! It's totally the way that I stay current. I live in Kansas City, MO, which is a pretty nice city. But, when it comes to fashion the west coast gets it first then a year later we will see it in stores!

Alright, you ready for my tutorial on a twisted headband? Let's go!

So, when I go to thrift stores I pick up all these scarves. Just in case I need them for a project! :)

I picked out this zebra print scarf.

This one was just a long piece of material. Some of them are squares or triangles, it is better if it's just a long rectangle. I cut it in half & added fray check onto the cut edge.

Now, you're going to take the 2 pieces & make them look like this!

After that is done there are 2 things you can do. You can sew some elastic onto the back, which is a little more advanced. Or, you can just tie the ends in the back. Now, you could use this tutorial with normal fabric or whatever material you have laying around.

I hope you enjoyed this post! I loved being here today!
