We're Moving

For those of you who are following me know that my family and I will be relocating to Maryland at the beginning of the next year.  This will be our fourth move since my husband's medical school days and also this will be our first home to get sold along with our first professional move, yeah, no U'Haul.  However, I've heard so many stories about moving and/or relocating, advice on how I should sell my home and buying or renting another home, I'm confused.  All, I know is my house here in Indiana has to be sold, so we can purchase another home in Maryland because we don't want to be paying on two mortgages.  DECISIONS, DECISIONS, DECISIONS!!

This experience thus far has been mind boggling, I didn't know what to expect once we decided to relocate, because we always moved from an apartment to apartment, and that's fairly simple.  I think I believed that the packing elves were going to magically appear and do the majority of the packing, repainting and carpet cleaning for me:)  By God's grace I have faith that everything will work out and our house here in Indiana will sale, our move will be uneventful, and we will find a home that we love in Maryland.

Moving can be difficult at times what do you do so that you won't get burned out or frustrated when having to relocate?

  1. My best tip for moving is to take it slow! Dont try to do everything at once and see it as an adventure not a chore. Also, cleanout, de-clutter before the move. and start packing early. do a little bit at a time. The best thing I did for my last move (across town 4 years ago)was getting a POD- the portable on demand storage unit they sit in your driveway like a railroad car. I was able to pack a little each day and slowly fill it and then it was moved for me, then I slowly unpacked it. Having professionals help this time will take a lot off your plate!

    1. Hello Bobbie!

Thanks for the advice, I never thought about a POD, it really would have helped me out when I was packing. Yes, having professionals definitely will help ease alot of my stress.

  2. Good luck with your move! I have moved a lot of times over the last couple of years, each time it seems it become harder. But you learn tricks along the way to make it easier. Pack things away that you know you won't need for the next couple of weeks, consider it like a trip of couple weeks what do you need and what do you have to have? Leave those things out because you use it. All the other stuff you can pack away already, so when it is actually moving time, you won't have that much to pack.

    1. Hello Ellen,

Thanks for advice, that's what I did at the beginning of my packing because I knew we wouldn't be needing it. However, it's amazing the things that you collect over a period of time. Thanks for stopping by.

  3. I think a move would be exciting. But I've lived in the same state my entire life and in the same city for the majority of those years. Where in Maryland? We have family in Baltimore and they love it.

  4. Hello Elizabeth!

Yes, this move will be exciting because we'll be moving back east. We will be moving to Salisbury, Maryland. Ok, we lived in Baltimore for 3 years before we moved to Indiana. Thanks for stopping by.
